Yesterday (April 6), H.E.R. launched her first “Girls With Guitars” Instagram Live session. The weekly series is set to feature performances with female guitarists and musicians as well as honest conversations about music and life. The two-time Grammy Award winner will also perform music from her deep catalogue, as well as covers and viewer requests.

Kicking off on Monday night (April 6) at 8 pm EST, the inaugural “Girls With Guitars” session hosted Alessia Cara, Tori Kelly and Umi. H.E.R. and Cara teamed up on an acoustic version of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie.”

Several artists, including Erykah Badu, Swae Lee, 21 Savage, D-Nice and Ne-Yo, have entertained their fans with online performances. In collaboration with the World Health Organization, Global Citizen previously kicked off the “Together At Home” virtual concert series, which prompted intimate performances from the likes of Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Miguel, Common, Chloe x Halle and more. The series aimed to promote online unity amidst pandemic social distancing.

Along with her new virtual concert series, H.E.R. is also taking care of her team while their touring has been indefinitely postponed. Recently, one of her lead backing vocalists named Ajanee shouted-out H.E.R.’s generosity on Instagram.

“I’ve been gone for a second because my family was directly affected by COVID 19. All of us were infected with the virus,” Ajanee posted. “Today, this BOSS just blessed her whole team with some COVID 19 funds to help us through the next few months. I’m not talking about a lil bag for groceries! SHE JUST BLESSED EVERY LAST ONE OF US! THANK YOU sis! I hope every artist who HAS it like that gives back to their team! Especially if they have been down from day 1. Thank you [H.E.R.] for being someone who leads by example!”
