When we’ve finally emerged out from underneath this global pandemic, Akon has an idea on how he’d like to show his appreciation for the frontline healthcare workers who have worked tirelessly against the Coronavirus

“Hopefully soon when all this corona sh*t is over I’d like to do a concert exclusively for healthcare workers,” the “Soul Survivor” artist tweeted on Tuesday (March 30). “Man you guys are up against some crazy challenges and I wanted to say thank you.”

It seems healthcare professionals were into the idea, with a few commenting “That would be amazing and very much appreciated” and “Feeling so happy and delighted by [this]… Makes me want to do more for my patients!”

In another tweet, Akon shared a video taken in France, where buildings full of quarantined residents danced and sang along in their windows to his and David Guetta’s 2009 hit “Sexy Bitch”

“This is crazy!!! A whole neighborhood in France partying with “Sexy Bitch” by [David Guetta] and [Akon] while they’re on lockdown and self-quarantined!” he wrote. “Hang in there people hopefully this sh*t will be over soon.”

Several hip hop artists have lent a helping hand to the medical community amidst the Coronavirus. Most recently, DJ Khaled and his wife Nicole Tuck, along with their nonprofit We The Best Foundation, donated 10,000 masks, gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment to healthcare workers through the Direct Relief charity organization.

Similarly, the likes of Lizzo, Rihanna and JAY-Z have also contributed to the cause, with Lizzo sending lunches to hospital staffs across the country and Rihanna and JAY-Z matching $1 million donations from their respective nonprofits.

“I just want to let y’all know how much we appreciate y’all for putting yourselves on the frontlines to protect us during this pandemic,” Lizzo addressed medical professionals in a video message. “This time is so scary for a lot of people, and y’all are peace of mind and heroes for a lot of us — myself included.”

In other Akon news, later today (April 2) the veteran artist will premiere his “Te Quiero Amar” video, featuring Pitbull. Look for the clip at 1 pm (EST).
