DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, Meek Mill and more remember Nipsey Hussle one year after his passing
The beloved rapper died one year ago today (March 31).
A year ago today (March 31), Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot outside of his Los Angeles Marathon Clothing store. The 33-year-old rapper was a beloved fixture in his community and a successful recording artist, collaborating with the likes of YG, Kendrick Lamar, Diddy, Snoop Dogg and more. Now, some of his past collaborators — as well as fans and his family members — are remembering Nipsey’s legacy a year after his tragic passing.
DJ Khaled, who featured Nipsey posthumously on his 2019 album Father Of Asahd, reflected on his memories with Nip with a few photos on Instagram.
“Bless up [Nipsey Hussle],” he wrote on Tuesday (March 31). “ICON [Nipsey Hussle] INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US. THE MARATHON CONTINUES LONG LIVE [King] [Nipsey Hussle]. Grateful for your friendship #HIGHER. THE HIGHEST HUMAN ACT IS TO INSPIRE.”
“The marathon continues,” he wrote in a second post. “We keep going Higher!”
T.I., who appeared to accept Nipsey’s posthumous BET Humanitarian Award last year, also reminisced on his friendship with Nip.
“Just Us Kickin sh*t Before the world went crazy… Ain’t been the same since,” he wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (March 31). “Never will be. Even still… We’ll take memories like these & lessons we learned from your life into eternity wit us King. TMC.”
Samiel Asghedom remembered his brother on Instagram with a photo of Nip and his daughter Emani at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
On Twitter, Nipsey’s legacy was praised by the NAACP, which wrote, “#RestInPower to the young brother #NipseyHussle. Your life and legacy of community building will not be forgotten. #TheMarathonContinues.”
Also on Twitter, Frederick Joseph, who interviewed Nip about his philanthropic efforts, committed to keeping the late rapper’s vision alive.
“I can’t believe it’s been a year. Thank you for always trying to figure out what we can do for the community,” Joseph tweeted Tuesday (March 31). “Don’t worry, we are still down here doing the work. RIP NIP. #TheMarathonContinues.”
