Following up his epic Instagram Live party, DJ D-Nice is taking music in the era of social distancing to the next level. On Thursday (March 26), the hip hop veteran shared his “DJ D-Nice’s Homeschool” playlist on Spotify, described as “essential jams for any party at home.” The collections includes over 50 songs and dance-worthy hits from Stevie Wonder, Rick James, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind & Fire and more.

According to a press release, the purpose of the playlist is to offer music lovers some feel-good tunes while waiting out the current quarantine life.

“I am honored and humbled to partner with Spotify on the official Homeschool Playlist,” D-Nice said in the release. “This list will rotate on songs that are guaranteed to make listeners dance and enjoy themselves. Stay tuned for more updates to this list.”

On Saturday (March 21), D-Nice launched his Instagram Live party that attracted over 100,000 viewers — including Diddy, J. Lo, Oprah Winfrey, Joe Biden, Janet Jackson, Drake, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna and Michelle Obama. Last night (March 25), the former First Lady even teamed up with D-Nice to host another Instagram Live party aimed at helping eligible voters register to vote, in coordination with her When We All Vote organization.

Speaking with Gayle King on “CBS This Morning” about his “Club Quarantine,” D-Nice explained that he’d “just decided I wanted to throw a party.”

“It was supposed to just be for a few friends on Instagram,” he explained. “I was literally just playing music from my laptop.”

“The next day I hooked up the turntables then I noticed the crowd started to grow,” he continued. “John Legend was in there. I called Dave Chappelle and he jumped in live. The next day J. Lo came, Drake arrived — then that Saturday party was everything. Everyone was there.”

Although several live music events have been postponed or canceled as a result of Coronavirus, artists have continued to connect with fans via live streaming services. John Legend, Erykah Badu and Jennifer Hudson are among the many who have brightened fans’ spirits with online performances.
