Big Sean has dropped some major news on his 32nd birthday (Mar. 25). The “I Don’t Fuck With You” rapper has announced his forthcoming album, Detroit 2.

Sean shared the news with a video trailer on his social media accounts. In the trailer, Sean narrates the almost three-minute video and previews some of his new music as he shows off somme behind-the-scenes looks of his album process.

Detroit,” he narrates the trailer. “To me it’s home, but I feel like it’s more than just a city, you know? It’s forreal a mentality. What’s crazy is the things I thought would destroy me, came full circle to fuel me.”

“I’ve been going back listening to music that impacted me growing up,” he continues. “You know songs I hear on the radio everyday, but I didn’t even realize was only poppin’ in Detroit. It feel like a whole new energy in the city, you know? It’s inspiring to watch to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It’s like the Phoenix rising out of the ashes, you know?”

Sean was set to perform at this year’s Coachella festival, but the event has been postponed until October due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The “Play No Games” rapper appeared on “Hot Ones” to speak about the festival’s postponement.

“I was definitely looking forward to Coachella being now. I was very excited for that, (but) I understand, you’ve gotta be safe,” Sean said. “… I’ve been wiping down my seats on my plane. I’ve been a germaphobe. I’ve been doing that before corona.”

Detroit 2 will be a sequel to Sean’s Detroit mixtape, which was released in 2012 and included appearances from Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. There is no word on when Detroit 2 will be released or whether or not there will be any features on the album, besides Young Thug who made a quick appearance recording tracks in the trailer.
