Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has given fans a ray of sunshine in the midst of the recent chaos that has stemmed from concerns surrounding the rapidly spreading coronavirus. Early Sunday morning (March 15) at around 3 a.m., he released a surprise album through live stream. A Twitter page by the name of @FASHIONSPITTA tweeted a link to a website called donaldgloverpresents.com. According to HipHopnMore, the tweet, which fans were initially skeptical about, was retweeted by someone from Glover’s management. The link led fans to a bunch of new songs from the rapper/actor.

Though the site provides access to the new records, it doesn’t specify song titles or features. HipHopnMore offered a breakdown of the song titles and possible features. The link includes 12 records and appearances from Ariana Grande, 21 Savage and maybe SZA, but these artists are only speculated and not confirmed.

Childish Gambino hasn’t been on the music scene since 2018. During that time, however, he released a few records including “Feels Like Summer” and “This Is America.” “This Is America” was accompanied by a four-minute visual directed by his longtime collaborator Hiro Murai and tackled issues such as violence, race relations and gun control in America.

The video was a hot topic on social media at the time, with fans dissecting the symbolism that Glover was trying to relay in the video.

He also received much praise from his peers for the clip. “Note to Donald : ‘America’ Brilliant on all levels . If you would have been naked at the end on the running scene , it would have been perfect. 😃… (that’s GLOVER btw – gotta specify lol),” Erica Badu said.

Another fan tweeted, So much symbolism in #ThisIsAmerica 1. Guns are handled with care 2. The kids are following his every move 3. Travon Martins dad playing the guitar 4. Dance moves depicting americas shopping craze 5. The people recording on their phones. SO MUCH MAN!”
