On the same day that he dropped off his Key Glock-assisted “1 Hell Of A Life” music video, Young Dolph announced his retirement. According to his Instagram Story and a report by Complex, the Memphis-bred rapper wants to have more time to spend with his family.

Earlier this week, Dolph began hinting about his possible retirement on social media. After deleting his entire Instagram feed, he speculated about leaving the rap game on his Instagram Story.

“Highly considering quitting music because i really wanna be with my kids 24/7,” he wrote.

On Wednesday (March 4), the 34-year-old rapper confirmed the decision when speaking with Complex.

“I’m done doing music so I can go kick it with my son,” he told the outlet.

However, Dolph is expected to continue his role at the Memphis-based record label, Paper Route Empire, which boasts the likes of Key Glock, Jay Fizzle, Big Moochie Grape and more on its roster. According to Complex, a representative of Dolph’s said that “Key Glock is already poised to be the new torch bearer,” in case of a change of hand.

Dolph and Glock’s “1 Hell Of A Life” video arrived from their 2019 join project, Dum and Dummer. Although Dolph has claimed he’s done releasing new music, it’s unclear if any other videos are set to spawn from the album.

The Tennessee-bred duo are currently on their “No Rules Tour,” which makes stops in major US cities like Boston, Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis and more.

Earlier this week, Dolph took a break from touring to stop by and make a generous donation at his high school alma mater.

“Made a promise to myself a long time ago that if i make it out the hood I would always give back to my old high school,” he captioned a photo of himself gifting a $25,000 check to Memphis’ Hamilton High School. “I had a break from tour yesterday and took a trip home.”
