Offset made his acting debut on the CBS series “NCIS: Los Angeles” on Sunday night (March 1), portraying undercover CIA agent Kadri Kashan Khan. The Migos rapper was encouraged by series-starring LL Cool J, who also helped him clench the role.

“Proud of my Lil brother making his dreams happen!!!” LL had tweeted when Offset’s role was announced. “[Offset]’s acting debut on tomorrow’s episode of #NCISLA!! When you’re in Hip-Hop, some people only expect you to play a gangster or a thug but my man is breaking type!!! This is just the beginning!! I got you bro!”

Now that the episode has aired, Offset returned the kind gesture by thanking the rap veteran for his help on Twitter.

“THANK YOU BIG BRO FOR BRINGING ME ON THE TEAM. YOU’RE A MAN OF YOUR WORD,” Offset wrote on Sunday (March 1). “THIS IS A MAJOR HIGHLIGHT OF MY CAREER. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING THIS EXPERIENCE HAPPEN SCOTT GEMILL, DENNIS AND THE REST OF THE CREW AT [‘NCIS’].”

Ahead of the episode, Offset revealed he’d reached out to LL about landing an appearance on the show and explained what kind of role he had wanted.

“I never wanted to come into acting and be like put in this category of, ‘Oh, you be the bad guy all the time,’” he’d said. “I wanted to be able to show that I can do anything that someone sets in front of me.”

Offset added that he’d spent time training so that he could perform his own stunts.

“I was studying ’cause I wanted to make sure I fulfilled the whole role. I didn’t want to play,” he said. “I’m doing all my own stunts.”

During the episode, the rapper also debuted a new song, called “Danger.” So far this year, he’s dropped off singles “Slime Knowledge,” “Fed Babies” and “Heathens.”
