Before his untimely passing, Pop Smoke had been working on a follow-up project to Meet the Woo 2. As hip hop continues to mourn his tragic death, collaborators like Travis Scott have shared snippets of unreleased singles and fellow rappers such as Polo G revealed they had recently shared the booth. Now Pop’s unfinished works are being pieced together as a posthumous album, led by 50 Cent.

A fellow New York native, 50 announced on Sunday (March 1) that he would finish Pop’s album as an executive producer on the project.

“I’m on the move listening to Pop smoke, i decided i’m gonna executive produce and finish his album for him,” he wrote on Instagram.

The “In Da Club” rapper also began his search for potential features, recruiting the likes of Roddy Ricch, Drake and Chris Brown.

“Tell [Roddy Ricch] i’m looking for him, i need him on Pop album,” 50 wrote in another post. It didn’t take long for Roddy to accept the offer, commenting, “Say less.”

“See i got [Roddy Ricch] on deck, this sh*t gonna be stupid,” 50 confirmed.

“[Drake] where you at ni**a…” he continued, adding in another post, “…[Chris Brown] im a need you on this record.”

Neither Chris nor Drizzy have responded to 50’s offer yet. After Pop’s passing, Drake paid tribute to the late rapper on his Instagram Story.

“Sit by some good energy tonight in these unwelcoming times, be with some good people and express how grateful you are for whatever it is you have,” he wrote. “RIP Pop.”

Quavo, Nicki Minaj and more also expressed their grief on social media, with 50 writing, “No such thing as success with out jealousy, treachery comes from those who are close. R.i.P.”

The forthcoming album will mark Pop’s first posthumous project and serve as a follow-up to 2019’s breakout Meet the Woo and this year’s Meet the Woo 2. The investigation into his tragic murder is ongoing.
