More details have emerged about how to purchase tickets for the Feb. 24 memorial of the late Kobe and Gianna Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers have issued a press release telling fans how they can be able to purchase tickets to the memorial.

Starting today (Feb. 14) through Monday (Feb. 17), fans can register to purchase tickets at On the evening of Feb. 18, fans will be notified if they’ve been verified and chosen to attend the memorial. Those that are chosen will receive a special access code and link to the sale.

On Feb. 19 at 10 am PT, tickets will be released for those fans with the access code to purchase. Tickets will be priced at $224 each, 2 for $224 and $24.02 each, in honor of Kobe and Gianna’s jersey numbers.

The event will not be shown on the big screen outside of the Staples Center, but people will be able to watch the memorial online and live on TV. Authorities are urging fans not to come to the Staples Center if you don’t have a ticket for the memorial. The streets will be blocked off.

TMZ is reporting that plans for who is speaking and singing at the memorial are still being finalized.

Authorities will be taking extra measures to ensure that fake tickets won’t be scalped. All proceeds from the memorial will go directly to Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.

A few days ago, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said that the memorial was in the works.

“I think one message that I would say is this is not just about a man who was a basketball player, this is about a father, this is about a leader, this is about a filmmaker, this is about an artist, this is about somebody who was so much more than just how he was on the court,” he told reporters.

“It’s a reminder how much unity we have, though. We are one city that believes in each other, believes in something bigger than ourselves and we will absolutely do everything to make sure that this is done so that everybody can come to it as well.”

Although the memorial is set for Feb. 24, Kobe and Gianna were laid to rest in a private Los Angeles funeral last week.
