PnB Rock & Pop Smoke join forces on “Ordinary”
Pop Smoke brings PnB Rock into the growing East Coast Drill movement.
It looks like PnB Rock is gearing up to release his official follow-up to last year’s TrapStar Turnt PopStar. Today, the Philly artist delivers a new single titled “Ordinary,” which is anything but. The track features New York emcee Pop Smoke and encapsulates the Brooklyn Drill sound that’s taken over American airwaves over the past few months.
Produced by Rico Beats, the hard-hitting release sees the collaborators flexing on wax about all of their favorite high-end luxuries, led largely by Pop Smoke’s infectious hook:
“I threw an opp pack in the air in my McLaren/
I put eight racks of baguettes up in my earrings/
I’m dripped in VLONE, that’s what I’m wearin’/
Chain cost a kilo, ain’t ordinary…/”
It’s PnB Rock’s first official single drop since he liberated last fall’s loosie “Fendi,” which saw assistance from fellow hip hop heavyweights Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz. He’s also contributed his multi-genre style to the likes of Ed Sheeran, Layton Greene and the late XXXTentacion within that same time frame.
“Ordinary” also brings PnB Rock back to the positive. The end of January found him in legal trouble following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence and reckless driving. Various reports state that the driver of a white BMW sedan — said to be PnB Rock — allegedly crashed into parked vehicles in Burbank, CA following a street race, injuring two people in the process.
