Sean Kingston was detained on Saturday night (Feb. 8) after police suspected he may have been armed with a gun. According to a report from TMZ, at around 8:15 p.m., LAPD received a call that a male had a gun at Dino’s Chicken & Burgers. Police arrived at the location, ordering at least one man on the ground. Kingston was placed in handcuffs and led to a police car.

Kingston and a few others were questioned, then released. No gun was found.

A witness shared a different account with TMZ, saying that he saw Kingston’s car blocking the exit of Dino’s Chicken & Burger. Some of the patrons were upset because this prohibited them from leaving the establishment. The witness claimed that Kingston also became angry and started throwing ice cubes at the windows of the restaurant, creating a “loud noise.”

Kingston has had several unfavorable incidents in recent year. In 2017, he claimed that he was ambushed by the Migos in Las Vegas. During an interview with 8 News NOW, Kingston explained that the ambush occurred after being told to meet the trio outside of the Sands Expo and Convention Center. “We went out there thinking we were going to have a conversation,” Kingston said. “They FaceTimed me, ‘Yo come outside let’s talk. Man, I miss you let’s chalk it up.’ You know what I’m saying? And as soon as I went outside it was no talking. They just started jumping on me throwing punches. I didn’t have a chance to put up my set up or do nothing.”

He continued, “It was very shocking because no matter what goes on it is kind of like I’ve been to their house they’ve been to my house. My mom has cooked for them. We don’t do industry friends. It’s either you’re rocking with us or you ain’t rocking with us — period.”

Back in 2016, The Game accused Kingston of mentioning his name to police after his $300,000 chain was snatched at an L.A. club. The Game then took to social media and told his followers that Kingston had name-dropped. However, Kingston’s attorney told TMZ that the Compton rapper was not mentioned in the police report.

“At no time did my client bring up the Game during the investigation,” Michelle Iarusso explained in a statement. “In fact, [Sean], to date, has not even spoken to any member of the LAPD regarding this incident.”
