Kodak Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen offered a prison update for his client via an Instagram post on Monday (Jan. 27). Cohen met with Kodak in an Oklahoma Federal Transition Center, a week after Kodak was removed from his Miami prison.

“We will address the issues in FDC Miami in good time,” Cohen wrote. “It was good to see [Kodak] and he was in good spirits. He is working on new projects and reading. He wants to thank all of you for the support.”

The update arrives after Kodak accused Miami prison guards of “strategically” conspiring to kill him. Through an Instagram post, the rapper claimed that he was denied visitation by his mother and girlfriend, that his mail was being tampered with and that he had received an empty tray for New Year’s breakfast.

“Lieutenant F. Arroyo has been very vindictive towards me and I have a strong feeling it has something to do with me being set up, laced, bruised and brutally beaten two weeks before my court date,” he wrote earlier this month. “There is a big conspiracy going on in this building. Me. Santiago Torres is using her position wrongfully in Miami FDC and is abusing her authority. She has been writing falsified incident reports on me, to take phone privileges that I get once a week while in solitary.”

Following the post, Kodak’s mother Marcelene Simmons hired an attorney and threatened to sue the Bureau of Prisons over the alleged abuse.

“I want to make sure my son is ok,” she Miami 7 News. “I want to make sure they don’t kill my son. If they kill my son, if my son dies, I’m going to kill myself too. My son, after God, my son is life to me. My son is everything for me.”

Simmons and her lawyer attempted to visit Kodak on Jan. 22 to conduct a welfare check. However, they were surprised to find out that he had been moved to a different prison, which they believed was used to intentionally delay them.
