Anderson .Paak won big at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (Jan. 26), taking home the coveted award for Best R&B Album for Ventura as well as the Best R&B Performance award for his album cut “Come Home,” which features Andre 3000.

The “Make It Better” singer showed up to the Staples Center in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

“This could’ve went anywhere! Shoutout to everyone in the category,” he said as he accepted his award. “This is a win for R&B … I wanna thank God, I wanna thank my beautiful wife — my patient wife— I know you don’t love me ‘cause I’m perfect, but thank you for showing me and my kids the closest thing to it.”

“I wanna thank Free Nationals, my lawyer, my Live Nation team… and all the amazing producers and writers that helped contribute to make something like this,” he continued. “I wanna thank Dr. Dre and everyone at Aftermath… I wanna thank Jimmy Iovine… both of them for telling me the things that I don’t want to hear, but that I need to hear.”

#AndersonPaak Reacts To Winning #BestRnbAlbum For #Ventura At The #Grammys

A post shared by andre allen (@andresflava1) on

Dropped off this past April, Ventura included contributions from Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Jazmine Sullivan, Sonyae, Brandy and Nate Dogg. The record marked .Paak’s fourth studio album, following 2018’s Oxnard, 2016’s Malibu and 2014’s Venice.

“Ventura is like the father of Oxnard who was never around, but then comes around and then tries to be like, ‘Yo, clean your room up, what the fu*k?’” the California-bred singer previously said of the album in an interview with CoupeDeMain. “Then Oxnard is like, ‘Wait, where have you been?’ And then he’s like, ‘I’ve been out here working my ass off, trying to provide for you. How do you think this house gets paid?’ And then the kid is like, ‘Oh, wow, you really were holding it down – but you were here, can you talk to me nice?’ Then Ventura is like, ‘Can you please clean up your room?’ And then the room gets cleaned, and they go off and have their relationship from there.”

.Paak’s new trophies mark his second and third Grammy Awards, following his win at last year’s Grammys for the Best Rap Performance for his song “Bubblin.”
