During a chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio, 2 Chainz offered insight into his next album and career move. The Georgia mainstay is currently focusing on his T.R.U. label’s compilation No Face No Case album and “changing [artists’] lives from the ground up.”

“Shortly after that [release],” Tity Boi said, “I’m releasing my solo project, which will probably be my last solo album on Def Jam.”

While Lowe was surprised by this, 2 Chainz reiterated that there’s nothing but love between him and the label.

“I’ve been with Def Jam for a long time, that’s my home right there. There’s no bad blood there,” he explained. “I love what they’re doing. I’m just coming into another layer, another section, of life, where it’s just about owning more. That’s all it is.”

“And who knows? I might stick around, it just depends how the negotiations go,” he continued. “But for now, I’m looking forward to possibly being independent by the end of the year and rocking that with my guys.”

2 Chainz released his latest album, Rap Or Go To The League, last year. He didn’t offer any other details about his forthcoming solo project, except that it’ll arrive “shortly after” No Face No Case.

Taking to Instagram, Tity Boi previously expressed his future solo and T.R.U. label plans.

“I might have been quiet for the tail end of last year but really been workin!” he wrote on Jan. 6. “My biggest goal this year is to change someone else’s life. I’m excited to present NO FACE NO CASE with my young Playa partners.”

Ahead of the compilation album, the T.R.U. team previously dropped off teaser singles “Virgil Discount” and “Woo.” No Face No Case is set to drop on Feb. 7 and will feature 2 Chainz, Sleepy Rose, Skooly, Hott LockedN and Worl.
