Beyoncé is racking up her coins. Following the launch of her Ivy Park collection with Adidas, Variety has reported that Bey signed a new publishing deal with Sony/ATV under Jon Platt, who took the head seat at Sony Music as chairman and CEO in 2019. Bey and JAY-Z have worked closely with Pratt over the years, the site reports. In fact, during the annual City of Hope Spirit of Life dinner in October 2018, JAY referred to Platt as his “brother” and deemed him the “the Obama of the music industry.” JAY-Z added at the time, “This man has worked his way up from a Denver DJ to be the highest-ranking black executive.”

Beyoncé also spoke of Platt at the event. “I’m so honored to celebrate you tonight,” she said. “Most people in this industry lead with their ego, but you lead with your heart. You’ve touched so many lives, mine included.”

It is clear that Beyoncé is never, not working. She dropped a teaser for her Ivy Park collection earlier this month. Meanwhile, the capsule was released on Saturday (Jan. 18). Prior to the collection’s release, Bey gave sneak previews of the items and also gifted women in the industry with the collection.

“This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power,” Bey said in an Elle interview from last year. “I focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because I saw so many men in IVY PARK. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift. I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules. I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves.”

Beyonce announced her Ivy Park deal with Adidas last April, calling it “the partnership of a lifetime.”
