DaBaby was released from a South Florida jail following the rapper being arrested on a battery charge in connection with allegedly robbing a promoter who shorted him. A report from 7 News Miami revealed that the rapper was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correction Center in West Miami-Dade on Saturday night (Jan. 4) after an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Texas was withdrawn. TMZ reports that he was released after posting $1,500 bail.

DaBaby was arrested on Thursday (Jan. 2) after allegedly robbing the promoter of $80, a credit card and then pouring apple juice on him, TMZ previously reported. The rapper is said to have taken the promoter’s iPhone 7 as well. The incident transpired after the North Carolina rapper felt he was shorted by the promoted after he received $20,000 for an appearance, but was owed $30,000.

The promoter, who reportedly plans to sue everyone involved in the incident, claims DaBaby was going to host the event, which was a birthday celebration for rapper Stunna 4 Vegas, at a discounted rate of $30,000 because the two rappers are friends. In a report from TMZ, the promoter said that he gave DaBaby $20,000 and was going to give him the other $10,000 he owed him after the event was over.

Days ago, the rapper has another run in with police while in Charlotte. DaBaby said that following a performance at the Bojangles Arena on Monday, Dec. 23, he was the victim of an unlawful search and detainment by police.

The rapper took to social media to put the police department on blast. “Dirty a— police department try to take me to jail every time I got a show in the city,” he said on his Instagram story.

The Charlotte Police Department said in a statement that will be launching an investigation on the incident to determine if the involved officers followed protocol.
