It’s January 1, 2020 and we still don’t have a new album from Rihanna.

A few days ago, she took to Instagram to troll her fans and say that she is refusing to release the album. The clip shows a cute puppy excitedly hopping around inside a cardboard box, set to the iconic House of Pain song “Jump Around.” She captioned the video, “update: me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it.”

Fans quickly took to Twitter to share their disappointment that the “Needed Me” singer did not release her highly-anticipated R9 album on New Year’s Eve. One fan tweeted, “instead of y’all hacking celebrities phones and twitter accounts why don’t y’all make yourselves useful and hack Rihanna’s laptop and release the new album.”

Rihanna has not released an album since Anti in 2016. Chart Data reported that Anti marked it’s 200th week on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first album by a Black woman to reach this milestone. In November, Rihanna told Vogue that her forthcoming album will be “reggae-inspired or reggae-infused.” She clarified, “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks.”

While we didn’t get an album, her fans should be happy to know that a Rihanna documentary is in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter reports, “The untitled doc, which Berg began working on years ago, is dubbed an unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life, providing a glimpse into the evolution of one of the world’s most well-known pop artists. With unparalleled access into the singer’s life and more than 1,200 hours of footage, the doc offers private insights into Rihanna’s personality, sense of humor, work ethic, family and love.”
