In a sit down interview with Rap Radar, Drake spoke about getting booed off stage at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival.

“I just walked myself into a situation, I kind of felt it backstage too,” he said. “I was a little confused. I was kind of sitting there, going like, ‘You guys know Frank’s not here, right? You may as well get over that… let’s rock, I’m the guy, I’m the replacement. I got a couple joints if you wanna hear them.’” He also joked that he should have just started singing Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin Bout You” record.

We all remember the incident like it was yesterday. Drake took the stage at this year’s Camp Flog Gnaw as Tyler’s special guest. Instead of being met with cheers, the “God’s Plan” rapper was met with loud boos.

“Like I said, I’m here for you,” Drizzy addressed the crowd after performing his Nothing Was The Same cut, “Wu-Tang Forever.” “If you want to keep going, I’ll keep going tonight. What’s up?” he said. “If you want me to keep going, I will keep going tonight.”

The crowd could be heard booing and replying to his question with “No!”

Despite the reaction, Drake stayed pleasant and left the stage, adding, “It’s been love. I go by the name of Drake, thank you for having me.”

Although Drake was booed, he was still in good spirits. He even joked about the incident on Instagram. “Plot twist…just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw,” Drake joked on Monday (Nov. 11). “Sorry kids see you EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30.”

Tyler was not happy with the way his fans addressed the “In My Feelings” rapper at his festival. He took to Twitter to shame his fans for their behavior.

“I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE FU**ING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE!” he wrote on Monday (Nov. 11). “BUT FLIPSIDE, A LIL TONE DEAF KNOWING THE SPECIFIC CROWD IT DREW. SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE AS*HOLES WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT FU*K WITH THAT.”
