Proudly hailing from Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny is a singer, rapper and producer who has garnered a reputation as one of the most inventive and eccentric voices found in today’s dynamic Latin trap scene.

As a leader in the Latinx urban music movement, known as música urbana, the 25-year-old first got his bearings by releasing original songs on SoundCloud and working on music outside of his day job at an area supermarket. He ultimately captured the attention of DJ Luian with his single “Diles,” and soon thereafter, was signed to the DJ’s record label, Hear this Music, in 2016. Later that same year, he released his breakout single “Soy Peor,” which has since gone on to rack up over 100 million plays on YouTube.

Rising to prominence through building a steadfast following on social media, Bad Bunny continued to evolve his artistry and develop a signature sound by fusing genres such as Latin soul, pop, R&B, reggaeton, and trap. As exemplified by a plethora of collaborations and his own solo music, his mercurial ability to weave between styles and languages alike has helped establish his own individual footprint in music. Whether he is rapping or singing in Spanish, English or a combination of the two, his confidence shines through on every track, helping him to resonate with an ever-growing audience.

Bad Bunny’s trap-heavy sound and undeniable talent led him to work with Cardi B, appearing on the Bronx rapper’s Grammy award-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy; lending his talents alongside J Balvin on the track “I Like It.” The monumental chart-topping earworm was also nominated for Record of the Year at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards and has since been certified as 7x platinum by the RIAA in the United States.

After working with Cardi B, Bad Bunny went on to release his debut album, 2018’s X 100pre, which was met with critical acclaim. Most recently, he dropped a collaborative album with J Balvin titled Oasis, speaking to his dedication to working with other leading voices in the Latin community. As he steadily grows his career with each strategic and self-expressive move, Bad Bunny is coming into his own, all while representing for his native San Juan and leaving his mark on pop culture at large.
