Ja Rule is letting fans know his side of things in his new track “F.Y.R.E.” The song samples samples Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick’s classic track, “The Show” and gives listeners his explanation of what really happened with the disastrous Fyre Festival.
“We on fire tonight. For your real entertainment. I’m ‘bout to tell you how that shit went down from the horse’s mouth/With no D.A. or plaintiffs, but in the people’s court, baby, they’ll hang you like they ancestors.” He continued, “Hotter than the sun, but it wasn’t that/Show of hands if you got your money back?/Just playing, I got sued for that/$100 mil to be exact/I know you lack empathy for the one that’s me/But I too was bamboozled and led astray.”
Ja Rule was recently dismissed from a $100 million lawsuit, where the festival attendees accused Ja Rule of swaying them to buy tickets to an event that was not really happening. Judge Kevin Castel sided with Ja Rule determining that he was unaware of the inner workings of the festival, despite his involvement with promoting the event. “This Court rejected plaintiffs’ conclusory assertions that they relied on defendants’ representations about the Festival as insufficient to state a claim for fraud,” the judge stated in his ruling. “In the case of Atkins [Ja Rule], plaintiffs alleged an actionable false statement, but failed to allege that they acted in reliance thereon.” The festival organizer, Billy McFarland, was sentenced to six years in prison for wire fraud in Oct. 2018.
His new album 12.Twelve.XII was pushed back from its original release date of Dec. 13 to Feb. 29, his birthday. He wrote, “I’m still working on the album it’s coming out dope… be patient wit me I’m working on a lot!!! Feb. 29 new date my bday.”
