Tekashi 6ix9ine took the stand in September to testify in his racketeering case. Reports claimed that his testimony and cooperation with the feds would allow him to received a shortened prison sentence. However, The Blast has recently reported that 6ix9ine is still facing 37 years.

According to legal documents obtained by the outlet, prosecutors in the rapper’s case agree with the probation department in New York in their calculation of the minimum sentence for all the crimes he is being charged for. Apparently, one of the reasons 6ix9ine is still looking at such a healthy sentence is because he was on probation for a sexual misconduct charge while he was associated with the Nine Trey Bloods. The document said, “The defendant’s mandatory minimum term of incarceration would be 37 years’ imprisonment.”

Prosecutors in the case filed a legal letter specifying the reasons that 6ix9ine is still facing more than 30 years. The letter said, “The defendant was assessed one criminal history point…due to his October 26, 2018 sentence of four years’ probation after having been convicted of ‘Use of a Child Less Than 17 Years of Age in a Sexual Performance,’ a class C Felony.” It also said that 6ix9ine did not “publicly” condemn the gang until Nov. 16, 2018.

The rapper is hopeful that prosecutors can convince the judge to allow his testimony to play a role in lessening his sentence. The judge, however, is the only person who has control over how much time 6ix9ine will receive.

Federal prosecutors filed a letter on the rapper’s behalf asking the judge to lower his sentence. In the letter, they noted that his testimony resulted in the conviction of other gang members.

Members of 6ix9ine’s family have also filed letters with the court asking for leniency from the judge for the rapper’s sentence, which is set to take place on Wednesday (Dec. 18), according to TMZ.
