Earlier this week, Tekashi 6ix9ine submitted a letter to Judge Paul Engelmayer apologizing for his past actions and asking for a second chance.

“As my sentencing date approaches, I am becoming more and more overwhelmed with emotions,” he wrote. “I find it difficult to find the right words to express what my life has been like for the last year. It honestly feels like my world is crashing down. There is no excuse, no justification and no apology good enough in this world to explain my crimes.”

The controversial rapper will be sentenced in his racketeering and firearms case next Wednesday (Dec. 18) and now his girlfriend, mother, brother, bodyguard and others have also written letters to Judge Engelmayer advocating for a lighter prison sentence.

“Growing up was nothing short of difficult,” his brother, Oscar Hernandez wrote. “My step-father was killed a block away from our home… Daniel was left without a father figure and chose a different path that not only afforded his rise to super stardom, but made him a magnet for people with malicious intent.”

“I see a scared kid whose light attracted a venomous group who exploited him,” his letter continued. “My diabetic mother hasn’t been the same since his arrest and awaits is return every single day. His five-year-old daughter, Saraiyah, misses him very much and needs her father; a role that I realized no one can replace.”

His mother, Natividad Perez-Hernandez, wrote of 6ix9ine’s contribution to their family and his “good heart and sweet soul.”

“Danny has used his success to help sick children, people with cancer, the elderly, countries where children are living in poverty and anyone who needs help around the world,” her letter read. “He has made our family and his daughter very happy and has given us a quality of life that we only dreamt of.”

His girlfriend, Rachel Wattley, described 6ix9ine as a family man and said she’s “optimistic” that his sentence will be reduced.

Prosecutors previously sent their own letters, recommending that the rapper’s sentence be reduced, due to his helpful testimonies. 6ix9ine’s crimes initially came with a mandated 47-year minimum sentence.
