Prosecutors against YNW Melly have released photos from the alleged crime scene in the rapper’s double homicide case, which they believe prove Melly as the gunman. According to local Florida news outlet Treasure Coast Palm, the photos were initially presented during co-defendant Cortlen Henry’s hearing on Aug. 23, when prosecutors tried to prove he should be held without bail. Now, those photos are available to be viewed by the public.
Melly is accused of shooting his friends YNW Sakchaser, born Anthony Williams, and YNW Juvy, born Christopher Thomas Jr., inside a car on Oct. 26, 2018. Melly has maintained his innocence and he and Henry, who was also in the car, claim they were all victims of a drive-by shooting.
However, prosecutors allege that the photos provided by the Miramar Police Department prove that Melly and Henry fabricated the drive-by story. The first image shows how authorities believe the four men were seated inside the car. Additional photos show the positions of .40 caliber shell casings that were located by the police and trajectory of the bullets inside the vehicle.
Investigators insist that the drive-by was staged, due to evidence showing that many of the bullets came from inside the car. Police already placed Melly at the crime scene using data tracking through his cellphone. The rapper was arrested in February and pleaded not guilty. If found guilty, he could face the death penalty.
“To all my fans and supporters no I did not get locked up in Washington, but I am turning myself in today I want you guys to know I love you and appreciate every single one of y’all, a couple months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice,” he wrote on Instagram following his arrest. “A lot of rumors and lies are being said but no worries god is with me and my brother.”
Despite being incarcerated, Melly released his album Melly vs. Melvin on Friday (Nov. 22). The 14-track project contained features from Foreign Teck on “Killuminati,” Tonk Wit Tha Gift on “Waitin On You” and 9lokknine on “223’s.”
