It appears that a two-year hiatus from PartyNextDoor may be ending this Friday (Nov. 22).

“Friday,” the OVO artist wrote in a cryptic Instagram post on Tuesday (Nov. 19), along with a selfie. PND last released his Colours 2 EP and Seven Days EP in 2017 and most recently appeared alongside Summer Walker on her Over It album.

Although the message gives no indication of what fans can expect, PND has been hard at work during these past two years, sharing studio shots and even a previewed collaboration with Rihanna.

OVO head honcho Drake, who said teased that “new PND” was “on the way” back in August, supported his collaborator by dropping several icy emojis below the post.

PartyNextDoor first broke through with his self-titled album, PartyNextDoor, in 2013. The sequel, PartyNextDoor Two, included the Drake-assisted hit, “Recognize.” PND and Drake continued their brooding, R&B success in “Come and See Me” on 2016’s PartyNextDoor 3. One of his most recent EPs, Seven Days, also included features from Halsey on “Damage” and Rick Ross on “Better Man.”

The Canadian multi-talent has also flexed his songwriting chops over the past few years, penning the DJ Khaled, Bryson Tiller and Rihanna collaboration “Wild Thoughts” in 2017. PND also co-wrote RiRi’s 2016 hit song “Work” and “Sex with Me.”

Despite just being a one-word post, and his first since July of 2018, fans were immediately set into a frenzy at the possibility of new PND music arriving this week.

“It looks like PARTYNEXTDOOR is dropping new music on Friday,” one Twitter user wrote. “FINALLY.”

Some fans are concerned the release will mean a single, rather than an EP or an album.

“I’m not even gonna lie. I don’t want no PARTYNEXTDOOR single,” one person tweeted. “I want the project. After all this time in the OVO basement. But imma chill.”

However, one-off singles aren’t typical for the OVO crooner’s discography, unless he’s gearing up for a full-length release. Fans will have to keep waiting until this Friday (Nov. 22) to know for sure.
