An opening day stampede at Travis Scott’s second annual Astroworld Festival left three fans injured on Saturday (Nov. 9). Houston Fire Department confirmed to local Houston news outlet KTRK-TV that fans were hospitalized for minor leg injuries after being trampled by festival attendees entering the grounds at NRG Park in Houston, TX.

Gates to the fest didn’t open until noon and over 50,000 people were expected to attend. Scott posted a video to his Instagram, which shows fans pushing down barricades and sprinting toward the event grounds.

“DA YOUTH DEM CONTROL THE FREQUENCY. EVERYONE HAVE FUN. RAGERS SET TONE WHEN I COME OUT TONIGHT. BE SAFE RAGE HARD. AHHHHHHHHHHH,” he wrote.

According to the Houston Police Department twitter, extra officers were later sent to monitor the event. In a since-deleted tweet, the police department said Astroworld was understaffed and that “promoters did not plan sufficiently for the large crowds.”

“We are successfully working together to support Houston’s biggest music festival @astroworldfest at @nrgpark and collaborating closely with the festival to ensure the public safety of everyone attending the event,” Houston PD wrote in a later tweet. “We look forward to a memorable night.”

Scott unveiled the festival’s lineup last week. Tickets to his Houston festival sold out within minutes of their release, even before the official lineup was announced.

Despite having injured his knee at this year’s Rolling Loud in New York City, Scott gave an energetic performance. Rolling onto stage in a stretcher after being introduced by Dave Chappelle, the “Sicko Mode” rapper was joined by Migos and Young Thug to perform an unreleased collaboration and Kanye West for “Follow God” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”

The rest of the star-studded fest included Pharrell Williams, Playboi Carti, Gucci Mane, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Rosalía, Marilyn Manson, Young Dolph and Key Glock, Pop Smoke, Tay Keith and more.
