Drake partners with Canadian cannabis company to launch ‘More Life Growth Co.’
Drizzy is gearing up to start his own cannabis company.
Drake is reportedly partnering with Canopy Growth Co. to launch his own cannabis wellness company in Canada called More Life Growth Co. Possibly named for his 2017 More Life LP, New Cannabis Ventures reports that the new company will be a fully licensed cannabis producer based in Drake’s hometown of Toronto.
Earlier this week, the rap mogul teased the new venture with cryptic hints—in a true Drizzy fashion.
On Tuesday (Nov. 5), several Toronto media outlets reported that Drake and his team had sent them More Life-branded flower bouquets. The news quickly spread that Drake was gearing up to announce an exciting new business venture.
Wednesday evening (Nov. 6), Drake further hinted at the company with a video on Instagram. The loop-clip portrays the words “Welcome to More Life Growth Co.” over an image of a large biodome. The image could be the “More Life Facility,” which New Cannabis Ventures reports is based in Scarborough, Ontario. The video is tagged with the company’s private Instagram handle, whose bio reads, “Coming soon.”
According to the Canadian trademark database, Drake filed an application for his new company last month. The trademark application reads on the database that More Life Growth Co. will provide cannabis products and accessories, medicinal herbal teas, clothing, outerwear, footwear, rolling papers, pipes and more.
“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” Drake said in a press release published on Thursday (Nov. 7). “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”
“When we first began talks with Drake we were extremely inspired by and aligned with his vision to bring best-in-class cannabis products to the world,” Canopy Growth Co. CEO Mark Zekulin shared in the statement. “Drake’s perspective as a culture leader and entrepreneur combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge will allow our new company to bring an unmatched cannabis experience to global markets.”
Marijuana became legalized for recreational use in Canada in 2018. According to the press release published by New Cannabis Ventures, Drake and More Life Growth Co. will share more details about the new company in the coming weeks.
“All in all, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Drake to bring his vision for the More Life Growth Company to global cannabis markets,” Zekulin concluded. “We anticipate a long, successful, and mutually beneficial working relationship.”
