Jacquees will finally release his Round 2 project later this week; however, the album now has a new name. In an Instagram post he shared on Monday (Nov. 4), Jacquees revealed his upcoming album, now titled King of R&B, will arrive this Friday (Nov. 8).

The self-proclaimed king had already shared his Round 2 tracklist over the summer. The project was supposed to have a July 19 release date, although it never arrived. Jacquees previously released project tracks “Verify” featuring Young Thug and Gunna, “Who’s” and “Your Peace” featuring Lil Baby. Jacquees hasn’t revealed any changes to the tracklist, so fans can still anticipate collaborations with Summer Walker, Ty Dolla $ign, Bluff City, FYB, TK Kravitz and Future.

The LP’s new title follows controversy Jacquees faced over proclaiming himself the king of R&B last year. In December, the Cash Money singer declared he was the “king of R&B right now for this generation.” R&B legends had a lot to say— including Tyrese, Tank, Eric Bellinger and J. Holiday —over Jacquees’ proclamation.

Fellow crooner YK Osiris responded to Jacquees’ claim during an MTV interview, where he named Chris Brown as the true king, simultaneously dissing Jacquees.

“Chris Brown. He’s the king,” Osiris told Sway Calloway during the interview. “But you gotta understand, in this generation, ain’t a lot of singers. Jacquees, I don’t think he really even mess with me like that. Not music-wise. Now vocals, yeah, he got it. But like music? Nah.”

Jacquees fired back at Osiris in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“I was gonna let the little ni**a breathe,” he said in a posted video clip. “YK Osiris, stop knocking on my f**king door. Stop asking me for big bro advice. Stop. You had my name in your mouth with Sway. That was a mistake. You can’t sing like me lil’ bro. I wanted you to win, I still do. Don’t bring my muthaf**king name up. You not on my level at all.”

Stay tuned for what R&B crooners have to say about Jacquees’ King of R&B album after it drops on Friday (Nov. 8).
