As he heads into his Jesus Is King Tour, Kanye West may face some insurance complications that he faced during his Saint Pablo Tour. According to TMZ, while Ye’s insurer will cover his upcoming tour, it will not cover cancellations due to mental health-related issues.

This same policy ended up being a major problem for Kanye three years ago, when he was hospitalized for exhaustion and sleep deprivation, forcing him to cancel his Saint Pablo Tour. Ye had already missed a string of tour dates at the time and was admitted into UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Hospital Center for a psychiatric evaluation.

The following year, Kanye reportedly filed a $10 million lawsuit against his insurers, Lloyd’s of London, over their alleged refusal to pay out claims from the canceled tour. According to court documents obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the insurance company accused Kanye of using marijuana and alcohol, which they claimed removed their responsibility to pay mental health-related claims. BBC reported in 2018 that the case was dismissed and both parties reached an “amicable” resolution.

If Kanye experiences mental heath troubles heading into his Jesus Is King Tour, any related show cancellations will not be covered. Thankfully, Kanye is reportedly in good mental health and is excited about his upcoming tour, which he’s said will launch “right away.”

“Kanye can’t wait to tour. He is excited about his new music. He is putting together a tour schedule right now. He wants to start the tour as soon as possible,” a source close to Ye told People. “He is in [a] much better place mentally than he was during his last tour.”

The source said Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, is also focused on his mental wellbeing going into the Jesus Is King Tour.

“Kim supports a tour, but still has concerns. She doesn’t want him to go crazy and do an intense tour with no breaks. She wants him to focus on his wellbeing and mental health too,” they said.

Kanye’s performance mode is already in full swing, having brought Jesus Is King to The Forum in Los Angeles, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Carpool Karaoke.”
