T.I. and Candace Owens have a difference of opinions in regards to their political viewpoints. During a recent interview with Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning,” Tip explained his thoughts on Owens and her relationship with conservatives. “She’s being used for propaganda,” he said. “Whether she understands it or recognizes it or not—which I believe she does—she’s being used for propaganda.”

Tip was then asked if he thought Owens was trying to use Kanye West when she attempted to align with the rapper. To that, he replied, “I actually think they have some similar views. I feel that they were probably left out in the dark…it’s an Anakin Skywalker story, I feel likewith Kanye and with her. The people who they wanted validation and acceptance from so much kind of turned their shoulder, cold shoulder to ‘em and left them out of the group message so long that they was like well, ‘F—k y’all. I’ma go over here and be cool with them.’”

Tip and Owens previously went neck and neck during our Revolt Summit in Atlanta last month. During the “Trap the Vote: Hip Hop & Politics” panel, Owens defended President Trump’s controversial slogan, “Make America Great Again.” T.I. challenged Owens and questioned when America was ever “great” for Black people. “When you say ‘Make America Great Again,’ which period are you talking about?” he asked. “The period when women couldn’t vote? The period when we were hanging from trees? The crack era? Which period in America are you trying to make America like again?”

“Which period was America great that we’re trying to replicate? Which era was it?” He added, “You’re making light of the enslavement of people that look like us.”

This weekend, we will be holding our Revolt Summit in L.A. from Friday (Oct. 25) to Sunday (Oct. 27).
