On Saturday (Oct. 19) Johnson City police arrested a 40-year-old Tupac A. Shakur. The white Tennessee man had multiple warrants out for his arrest and surprisingly shared the name with the famous deceased rapper.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, Shakur was pursed over his active warrants and pulled a knife toward the officers before being taken to the ground. After a struggle, he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, simple possession of methamphetamine and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

The report states that “Pac fled the scene as a passenger in someone’s car. When police later located the vehicle with Shakur still in it, he pulled a knife on them as they attempted to arrest him. He was eventually wrestled to the ground, subdued and taken in. Cops reportedly found a syringe and multiple baggies of methamphetamine on him.”

At 40 years old, Shakur would have been born in 1979, eight years after the rapper Tupac was born. It’s unclear whether Tupac Shakur is the Tennessee man’s birth name or if he changed it later in life.

Shakur was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being currently held on $18,000 bond and will be arraigned Monday (Oct. 21).

In other Tupac—the rapper—news, a five-part series about the late rapper and his mother, Afeni, is still under development. FX Networks revealed the forthcoming show after announcing “Untold Stories of Hip Hop” with Angie Martinez, which premiered earlier this month. The upcoming Tupac series, named “Outlaw: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur,” will detail the life and relationship between Tupac and his mother, who was also an author, activist and former Black Panther Party member. The series will be directed by Allen Hughes, who directed early music videos for Tupac and N.W.A and directed the Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine-centered docuseries, “The Defiant Ones.”
