HOT 97 will not play new music from 6ix9ine after he’s released from prison
The radio station doesn’t agree with the rapper’s plea deal agreement.
Although 6ix9ine just signed a major record deal while in prison, there are others who are not anticipating new music from the rainbow-haired rapper.
According to TMZ, New York radio station, HOT 97, will boycott music from 6ix9ine. Per the media outlet, members of the station do not agree with the rapper’s decision to testify against his former associates. An executive from HOT 97 tells TMZ that they will only play his music unless someone “forces their hand.” In addition to that, HOT 97 will not allow 6ix9ine to perform at their popular music event, “Summer Jam,” moving forward.
Last week, 6ix9ine signed a $10 million record deal with his former label, 10K Projects. As part of the agreement, the rapper is expected to release two albums, one in English and one in Spanish. The news falls in line with a recent report from Page Six, which stated that 6ix9ine is working on new music. “It looks like he will be making music right away when he comes home,” said a music insider. “He already contacted a young NYC producer, and someone purchased two beats for him.”
Since 6ix9ine’s sentencing date is scheduled for Dec. 18, HOT 97 will not have to worry about new music releasing from the rapper anytime soon. Originally, 6ix9ine’s sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 24, 2020, however, his legal team was able to work magic. “Counsel for Mr. Hernandez respectfully requests that sentencing be scheduled on an expedited basis,” the document states. “The Government does not object to this request.”
After taking the stand for three days to testify against his former associates, Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack, Judge Matthew Russell Lee issued his ruling. Ellison was found guilty of 6ix9ine’s “kidnapping in aid of racketeering…racketeering conspiracy and maiming and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering.” As for Mack, he was found not guilty of kidnapping, but guilty of “racketeering conspiracy and narcotics trafficking.”
