Back in July, Tay-K was hit with a 55-year prison sentence for his involvement in a 2016 home invasion.

During his trial, Tay-K pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery and not guilty to capital murder. Prosecutors were referring to the home invasion that took place three years ago and ended in the murder of Ethan Walker.

On Wednesday (Oct. 2), a grand jury gave ex-policewoman, Amber Guyger, a 10-year prison sentence for the fatal shooting of Botham Jean in his Dallas apartment. For her argument, Guyger stated that she thought she was entering her own home and Jean was an intruder.

“Just so y’all know what white girl just got 10 years for a murder that she did commit, by walking into this mans HOME,” Kayla Renee, Tay-K’s sister, wrote on Facebook. “Meanwhile they just convicted my brother of murder and sentenced him to 55 years for a murder he did NOT commit because “he should’ve anticipated it.” He should have anticipated that someone else would pointlessly pull a trigger in a situation that it was not necessary. But let’s talk facts, y’all go look at the case facts. Get educated!”

In addition to Renee, many have shared their thoughts on the situation. Some believe that this is an issue of race. “They don’t even actually know if Tay K killed, and he gets 55 years yet this white woman actually did kill an innocent black man and gets 10 years, for the same crime, in the same state.. #FREETAYK,” one user wrote.

Another added, “I’m not a fan of Tay-K, but this woman that murdered an innocent man got 10 years where the kid got 55 and his homies were the ones that pulled a trigger before… The US system is f–ked, despite he pleaded guilty (???). WTF. I can joke all I want, but this is serious. #freetayk”
