Kanye West fans have been waiting for the release of his “Jesus Is King” album. However, Kanye fans in Detroit received a first listen. According to Rap-Up, the Chicago rapper presented his ninth studio album during his “Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Experience” at the Fox Theatre on Friday night (Sept. 27). Nearly 1,000 fans, who were able to score free tickets via Ticketmaster.com, were on hand to hear ‘Ye’s new 10 tracks.

Billboard reported on the event and wrote, “Not scripture-based like the Sunday Service, the album is a decidedly hip-hop exposition, using mostly spare keyboard and percussion arrangements with plenty of space for West’s vocals.”

Kanye’s album was originally supposed to be released on Friday (Sept. 27), but Kim Kardashian announced on her Instagram Stories that the album will be released today (Sept. 29). She revealed that her husband is adding “final tweaks to the mixes.” “Kanye’s doing a listening session in Chicago tomorrow, then NYC Sunday. He’s dropping the album Sunday. Just a few final tweaks to the mixes,” she wrote.

Kim also tweeted the revised tracklisting for Kanye’s “Jesus Is King” album. Instead of the 12 tracks that she unveiled last month, the final version includes 10 religious-themed tracks with titles such as “Follow God,” “On God,” “Sunday,” “Use This Gospel” and “Selah.”

Kanye also hosted a Sunday Service in Detroit at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. The Detroit Free Press reported that the service was held Friday afternoon (Sept. 27) and attracted about 6,000 people. Fans arrived at the theater as early as 5:30 a.m. Some traveled from as far as San Francisco, Chicago, and Canada.

Kim recently spoke on Sunday Service and revealed that it was a source of healing for Kanye. “Kanye started this, I think, just to heal himself,” she said. “It was a real personal thing, and it was just friends and family, and he has had an amazing evolution of being born again and being saved by Christ. People always ask, ‘Well, what are you worshiping?’ Or, ‘What is this?’ It is a Christian service, like a musical ministry. They talk about Jesus and God.”
