Since the debut of Kanye West’s Sunday Service, the Chicago rapper has received a ton of support. While hosting the weekly event at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, T.I. stopped by along with 2 Chainz. After a picture of him with a “stank face” went viral, T.I. explained the context during a recent episode of his podcast, ExpediTIously.
Atlanta’s most outspoken critic recalled showing up to the church after the offering was collected. The Takers actor was surprised when the pastor asked for another round after he appeared.
“When we sat down there was a whole new agenda. It was like they rung the red bell at the Player’s Club,” T.I. said while speaking with Killer Mike. “It’s not that I have [anything] against pastors or against preachers so-to-speak. It’s just I’ve been raised in the trenches and I was taught to peep game. You ain’t [about to] run no game on me. I will not be extorted.”
After seeing Tip’s comments regarding his church, Pastor Bryant offered a response on Instagram. “To have both of you in church was meaningful for many reasons. This is the largest demographic of blacks who don’t buy into organized religion in our history and in large measure because of reasons you have illuminated,” Bryant said.
He continued, “I want to invite both of you to come and give church another chance. I promise you I’m more interested in your life than your life savings!”
It makes sense as to why Tip addressed this on his buzzing new podcast. While speaking on his new venture, the 39-year-old vowed to keep things honest in a judgment-free zone.
“We talk about any and everything,” T.I. said during a conversation with Billboard. “And I tried to create an environment where people could speak and express themselves freely, fully, authentically, and unapologetically. We have created a space where you can speak your truth without judgment.”
