Lizzo can admit when she makes a mistake.
On Monday (Sept. 16), the “Truth Hurts” artist called out a Postmates worker for allegedly stealing her food. “Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food. she lucky I don’t fight no more,” she wrote in a tweet that his since been deleted.
After giving the situation careful thought, on Tuesday (Sept. 17), Lizzo issued an apology for blasting the Postmates worker. “I apologize for putting that girl on blast. I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door.”
Before the apology, fans accused Lizzo of being insensitive. “I do Postmates and there have been times where the app has f–ked up or weird circumstances have happened and I couldn’t get the food to the customer. U don’t know what this woman’s situation is. You can afford to order more food. She might not be able to afford losing her job,” one fan wrote.
Another fan added, “I get this s–t is frustrating @lizzo, but the solution shouldn’t be to use your followers to attack someone and probably get them fired. it’s really not worth all that when she’s just tryna make a living. maybe she gave the food to the wrong person, happens all the time.”
In more Lizzo-related news, she recently starred in Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez and Cardi B. This past weekend, the film made over $34 million at the box office. While speaking about the film, Lizzo stated that she had the time of her life.
“This was my first time on camera for a feature film,” she said to Cosmopolitan. So I was looking at her [Jennifer Lopez] like, ‘Wow, you’re the leader right now.’ And she definitely did her job. She controlled the room and led the sisterhood.”
