Rihanna’s reign continues.
On Monday (Sept. 16), Billboard revealed that the Barbadian singer signed a worldwide publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music. The agreement encompasses her Hot 100 Top 10 singles including “Love on the Brain,” “Needed Me,” “Rude Boy,” and “Work,” which features Drake.
While speaking on the latest venture, Sony/ATV’s chairman, Jon Platt, shared his excitement over the deal. “I’m proud to have known Rihanna since the beginning of her career,” said Platt regarding the news. “Music, fashion, philanthropy and a heart of gold have solidified Rihanna’s position as one of the biggest icons in the world. It is an honor to be reunited with her at Sony/ATV.”
The news of anything related to music puts the Navy in a frenzy. Following the release of ANTI, back in 2016, Riri has yet to drop a follow-up project. Later this year, fans are hopeful that Rihanna will drop her ninth-studio album in which she might entitle R9. ”So far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy,” Rihanna stated during an interview. “I’m about to call it that probably, ‘cause they have haunted me with this ‘R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?’ How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?”
Throughout her career, Rihanna has proven that she is capable of wearing many hats. Last week, Rihanna put on a memorable fashion show in New York City in support of her Savage X Fenty line. While speaking with Elle, the singer reiterated that she wants every woman to feel confident while wearing her products.
“My vision for the Savage X brand has always been having women feel confident and expressing themselves,” said the musician in a video showing behind the scenes of the design process. She added, “There’s no rules with designing lingerie. You can go as comfortable as you want, you can go as sexy as you want.”
Congrats to Rihanna on her latest deal!
