Megan Thee Stallion had one heck of a breakout year.

The Houston-born rapper started a movement, has been making her way up the charts and even snagged a few BET Hip Hop Awards nominations. However, the year started off a bit rocky, as she dealt with the loss of her mother. Megan recently took to Twitter to open up about how her mom’s death has impacted her.

She wrote, “After my mom passed I promised myself I was going to keep going hard bc not only is music my dream but it was her dream for me too. I have days where I want to go hide and cry bc she’s not here but i kno that ain’t what she would want me to do! I kno she’s proud of me !”

However, some social media users have suggested that her mother’s death was a conspiracy. On Saturday (Sept. 14), former NFL player Larry Johnson retweeted a photo of Meg with JAY-Z, following the announcement she made about signing to Roc Nation, and said that her deal was with “Satan.” “A coincidence : Her mother, who was her manager died in the month of March 2019, the same month of her ‘break out.’ Music industry filled with the easily corrupt fatherless children looking for Satan to be the ‘daddy’ they never had,” Johnson tweeted.

Megan fired back shortly after, informing Johnson that she had been grinding for some time before her big break. “Just because YOU found out about me around the time my mother passed does not make what you’re saying accurate. I’ve been grinding for so long and would appreciate if you weirdos on the internet would stop trying to associate my mother having A BRAIN TUMOR with the f—king devil,” she said.

On a much lighter note, Megan revealed on Friday (Sept. 13) that she has signed a deal with Roc Nation Management. “I would like to announce that I am officially a part of the @rocnation fam,” Meg wrote on Instagram. “The grind don’t stop!”
