Looks like the rumor mill may have jumped the gun.
Rihanna hosted her 2019 Diamond Ball on Thursday night (Sept. 12) and her brief conversation with Essence sent her Navy into a frenzy. While speaking with the outlet, Rihanna spoke on the pride she has for being a Black woman. In doing so, she made a reference to giving birth to a Black woman in the future.
“I’m a black woman. I come from a black woman, who came from a black woman, who came from a black woman and I’m gonna give birth to a black woman. And so, it doesn’t even…it’s a no brainer. That’s who I am, it’s the core of who I am in spirit and in DNA,” she said. “And, I’d always stand up for what I believe in and who I love and who I know, who I respect. My mother raised me to be an incredible woman and she’s a strong incredible example of what to be and how to fight obstacles in life. And, I’m sure her mom has also taught her. And, that’s how I’m gonna be. We’re impeccable. We are impeccable. We’re special and the world is just gonna have to deal with that.”
TMZ has since reported that according to sources with “direct knowledge,” Rihanna is not expecting.
Although Rihanna isn’t dropping a baby soon, she did reveal that she will be delivering new music in the near future. “I’m busy, I’m a confident woman so whatever I do, it’s gonna be confident, whether it’s the album, perfume, lingerie, makeup, or fashion,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
She added about her forthcoming album, “Y’all gon’ have to wait, Navy, I’m so sorry.”
As previously reported, according to HipHopDx, multiple French outlets covering the Universal Music France Open Session event revealed that Rihanna will be dropping her ninth studio album in December.
