Chance The Rapper has some thoughts regarding the tension between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
During an interview with Big Boy, which was uploaded today (Sept. 12), Chance reasons that a lot of artists are pitted against each other. The father-of-two stated that society forces others to pick a side.
“A lot of that stuff is produced,” he said. “We live in… A lot of everything is curated before we get to see it. Like, all the information, the way that they phrase it to us… The way they put people against. It’s made for you to like, accept it a certain way, so a lot of people had to choose a side. I don’t want to speak for them at all, but I feel like to a certain extent they got pushed into that too, and I don’t think that all of that was a hundred percent their feelings.”
Elsewhere during the interview, The Big Day artist praised both musicians for their work ethic. The 26-year-old is proud of Cardi and Minaj’s accomplishments throughout the years. “Just being honest, they are two of the greatest recording artists. And that’s just facts. The way that their music touches people, the way they’ve impacted music? It’s been incredible.”
More recently, Megan Thee Stallion shared a similar opinion. While speaking with E!, Megan explained that she is not one to pick sides, especially when both parties are talented. In the future, Megan is open to working with Cardi B. “It’s really like a lot of the fans. They really make it seem like you’re picking sides,” Megan said. “I really, really, really like both of them. They’re two different people, two different rappers. It’s not even the same. I feel like we need to stop trying to compare them. I love both of them, so I would definitely like to collab with Cardi too.”
In other Chance-related news, the Chicago spitter announced that he is welcomed his second child with his wife, Kirsten Bennett. Next year, he is slated to hit the road for “The Big Day Tour.”
