In an interview published by Complex on Tuesday (Sept. 10), Juice WRLD spoke on a variety of topics, which included his top five rappers at the moment.
“Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, this rock band named Escape The Fate, and… I’m trying to think of the last one. Honestly, the last one, I would have to go with Future,” he said to the publication.
Throughout his career, Juice has been compared to Weezy for his harmonies and rock-influenced sound. The comparison doesn’t bother Juice at all. The 20-year-old rapper believes that Weezy changed the game for a lot of upcoming rappers. “Wayne is one of my favorite rappers,” he began. “I have a very big appreciation and admiration of Lil Wayne. He changed the game when he came in the game. I still think to this day, when he was in his prime, prime, he was the best rapper alive. So, that means a lot.”
In hindsight, it makes sense as to why Future is referenced on Juice’s list. Back in October of 2018, the two emcees released their collaborative mixtape, WRLD on Drugs. While reflecting on their project, Juice said it was a blessing to work with the ATL rapper. “I thank God for it. It’s a blessing,” Juice said to Billboard at Powerhouse NYC.
Back in 2017, Juice shared on social media that he would love the chance to work with the “Throw Away” rapper. Luckily, Juice was able to manifest his dreams into reality. “The day I make a collab tape with @1future is the day I made it,” he said.
As his career continues to unfold, Juice is taking steps to a healthier life. After a recent health scare, Juice vowed to quit codeine for good. “Addiction kills all but you can overcome,” Juice wrote to Twitter.
