LeBron James has made his love for Taco Tuesday widely known.
According to USA Today, the NBA star is making things official and has filed a trademark for “Taco Tuesday.” Records show that LBJ Trademarks, LLC, one of LeBron’s companies, filed the trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The filing indicates that James is seeking the rights to the phrase for “advertising and marketing services provided by means of indirect methods of marketing communications, namely, social media; podcast services; and online entertainment services, namely, providing a website featuring non-downloadable videos, and social media posts in the field of sports, entertainment, current events and popular culture,” USA Today reports.
LeBron kicked off his first social media post about Taco Tuesday on his Instagram page earlier this summer. The posts typically include his family, but has also featured celebrity appearances such as James’ newly acquired teammate Anthony Davis.
LeBron isn’t new to making headlines for his positivity. In July 2018, the Los Angeles Laker opened the I Promise School in his hometown Akron, Ohio, according to USA Today.
“We are going to be that groundbreaking school that will be a nationally recognized model for urban and public school excellence. We are letting people know it is about true wrap-around support, true family integration and true compassion,” I Promise principal and Akron native Brandi Davis said at the time.
Earlier this year, James announced a $1 million grant from the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation that will build a new gym at the school. “To my kids, this is more than a gym,” James said in a video via the Akron Beacon Journal. “The Dick’s Sports Matter program is helping us provide even more opportunities. An opportunity to play and learn in a safe place that many don’t have access to. I can’t imagine where my friends and I would be if it weren’t for the coaches and teachers who cared about us and the opportunities we had.”
