Dave Chappelle is bringing good vibes to Dayton, Ohio.

Residents of Dayton can look forward to having a good time on Sunday (Aug. 25), thanks to Dave Chappelle. According to Page Six, the comedian will host a free block party strictly for the people of Dayton following the mass shooting in the city, which left nine people dead and 17 injured.

The “Gem City Shine” benefit concert is scheduled to take place in the Oregon District, the area where the Aug. 4 mass shooting occurred. The event’s Facebook page said that the benefit will “honor the lives lost and to reclaim the community’s favorite places to shop, dine and enjoy time with family and friends.”

“Gem City Shine” is seeking a $20 minimum donation in exchange for a commemorative T-shirt. The proceeds from the donations will benefit the “tragedy fund at the Dayton Foundation.”

Residents who are interested in attending, but are unable to, are being asked to “contribute to both The Dayton Foundation’s Oregon District Tragedy Fund and Oregon District Business Association,” according to Dayton.com.

The event is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The street surrounding the Oregon District will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. and will reopen at 10 a.m. the following morning.

“I would encourage people to come early, before 4 p.m. Come hang out. Do some shopping. Grab something to eat,” Natalie Skilliter, a member of the Oregon District Business Association board, told Dayton.com.

On another note, TMZ has reported that Kanye West might be surprising Dayton residents with a Sunday Service concert. ‘Ye and his family were spotted in Dayton on Friday (Aug. 23). Sources said that the rapper appeared to be looking for a location to hold a special Sunday Service.

A Sunday Service in Dayton has not been confirmed just yet.
