Drake reportedly hit with lawsuit for beats used on ''In My Feelings'' and ''Nice For What'' tracks

Despite his career highs, Drake appears to be facing some legal trouble.

According to a recent report from TMZ published yesterday (Aug. 21), Samuel Nicholas III, who also goes by the name of Sam Skully, is hitting Drake with a lawsuit for using his beats without his permission. Skully reports that Drizzy used both his beats on “In My Feelings,” which features Big Freedia and “Nice For What.”

Skully claims that Drake and Big Freedia sampled a portion of his 2000 track, “Roll Call,” but never asked for permission nor offered a payment. Elsewhere in the documents, Skully claims he published his beat on a CD in New Orleans and didn’t realize that his work had been stolen until hearing Drake and Freedia on the radio. In addition to Drake and Freedia, Skully is suing Asylum Records, Cash Money Records and Republic Records for damages. Drake has yet to comment on the situation at hand.

On a lighter note, Drake recently earned his ninth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart thanks to his Care Package LP. Shortly after its release earlier this month, the project moved a total of 109,000 equivalent album units in the U.S, according to Nielsen Music.

Hopefully, Drake’s legal woes will not get in the way of him being in album mode. More recently, we reported that Drake visited Miami to cook up some new music. While in the 305, Toronto’s finest met up with DJ Khaled. “It’s called YOU KNOW WA GWAN @champagnepapi x KHALED link up. A ting called Family ting #WeTheBest #OvO,” Khaled wrote as his caption.

In addition to working on music, Drake is securing deals as well. Last month, Drake partnered with LeBron James’ Uninterrupted Canada. But, it doesn’t end there! Drizzy also partnered with Pandora and Sirius XM to create content that is expected to roll out later this year.
