On Tuesday (Aug. 20), Nipsey Hussle’s friend, Arsenio Gravesande, died following a shooting that took place in Brooklyn, New York.

According to the New York Post, Gravesande was struck by a bullet in his left hip. Following the shooting, officers rushed to help Gravesande and the 28-year-old reportedly cursed them out using his final breaths. Officers asked Gravesande if he had any knowledge of who the shooter might be. Reportedly, Gravesande issued his last statement: “F–k you, son!” Following his immediate surgery at Brookdale Medical Hospital, Gravesande was pronounced dead. Unfortunately, the bullet struck multiple arteries that the surgery could not heal.

Gravesande’s cousin, Bethany Samuels, explained to The Post that Gravesande didn’t seem at peace in his final moments. The 35-year-old recalled the experience of riding in the ambulance with him for the last time.

“I went in there [the ambulance] with him,” said Samuels. “He was just moving, trying to grab this, grab that. It’s like his spirit wasn’t at peace. He was saying he couldn’t breathe, [that] he was dead.”

According to the New York Times, five fatal shootings have been reported in New York within the span of twenty-four hours (Aug. 21). Throughout Neighborhood Nip’s career, he was photographed multiple times with Gravesande, who was a known member of the Crips. Gravesande had a total of 43 arrests on his criminal record.

Unfortunately, gun violence is a major issue in today’s society. Back in March, Hussle was fatally shot in front of his Marathon Clothing Store, which left fans heartbroken. Moving forward, Hussle’s team will carry out the slain rapper’s vision. Earlier this month, Hussle’s team announced that a Nipsey Hussle Tower is in the process being built.

“As a notice to the public, we’re putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019, to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave. to start the early development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commemorate and honor the life and legacy of Nipsey,” reads the message that London shared on Instagram. “The Marathon Clothing Store will remain closed, but you can shop online at TheMarathonClothing.com.”

Rest in peace, Arsenio Gravesande.
