Cardi B is not too happy with the NYPD at the moment.
In a video uploaded by TMZ today (Aug. 21), Cardi explains that her friend, Star, was planning a back-to-school giveaway in Brooklyn, New York. In her rant, Cardi alleges that the NYPD scared off the principal from hosting the event, which caused the giveaway to get canceled. Cardi is disheartened because she believes the event would’ve benefitted both the parents and children.
“My homegirl, Star, she was having a school giveaway in Brooklyn on the 27th,” she began. “Unfortunately it got shut down because the NYPD called the school principal of the location that they were having the giveaway and practically scared off the principal and now the s–t got shut down. I find that sh–t so f–ked up.” She added, “This is really for the kids. Shorty was really coming out of her pocket just to help the community. It was for kids to have a fun positive day, to benefit the parents with school supplies and many more things.”
More recently, Cardi was featured in Reebok’s latest campaign, “Meet You There.” The collection is targeted towards men and women and celebrates individual style and expression. For her part, Cardi explains what makes her unique in the industry. The Invasion of Privacy spitter admitted that her upbringing has a lot to do with the person she is today.
“It’s definitely The Bronx, where I came from and my friends,” she begins. “A lot of people always talking about how I talk, saying I have a very deep accent. I started feeling really insecure about it, but it’s like ‘Nah, forget it.’ I gotta be real with myself all the time, that’s something I gotta do to stay me.”
