Kanye West’s Sunday Service is reaching new heights.
For his latest service, West had a change of scenery. Instead of his usual Calabasas location, the father-of-four took his service to a local congregation in the San Fernando Valley. According to TMZ, some of the songs featured on this Sunday’s lineup were “This is the Day,” JAY-Z’s “Lift Off,” and Tye Tribbett’s “Lift Him Up.” In addition to that, the service was attended by Gwen Stefani, Tori Kelly, Eric and Waryn Campbell and Blac Chyna.
As the weeks unfold, West receives more support towards his weekly service. While speaking with Zane Lowe, West’s fellow collaborator, Chance the Rapper, spoke on the significance of ‘Ye’s Sunday Service. Chano believes that it’s important in today’s society.
“I can’t pinpoint a moment when it was like, Ye, has his — I don’t even know what to call it — his revelation, but he does often like, reference me when he talks about it, and I think that’s important. I think fellowship is the most important thing, period, and if we can’t talk about faith, then it’s like, ‘Why are we talking?’” The Big Day spitter said in regards to West’s Sunday Service.
Keeping that same energy, Nicki Minaj also believes that West has changed for the better since creating his Sunday Service. “Sometimes in the music business, we think that other artists don’t believe in God or aren’t spiritual as we are,” Minaj said. “… I just was with Kanye, and he told me he’s a born again Christian now. Like my first instinct was, ‘I’m so proud of you,’ because I could see there’s a peace that he has now that just surpasses everything.”
As we previously reported, West is in the process of attempting to trademark his Sunday Service. If approved, the Chicago native will create dresses footwear, headwear, jackets, loungewear, scarves, shirts, socks and clothing tops.
