Fans will have to find another way to honor the late Nipsey Hussle on his birthday today (Aug. 15).

According to TMZ, The Marathon Clothing Store features a massive fence with shading and barbed wire. The barricade is an attempt to prevent people from hosting a birthday memorial in which they would leave items at the store. Earlier this month, Hussle’s longtime partner, Lauren London, issued a statement that a Nipsey Hussle Tower was in the process of being built.

“As a notice to the public, we’re putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019, to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave. to start the early development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commemorate and honor the life and legacy of Nipsey,” reads the message that London shared on Instagram. “The Marathon Clothing Store will remain closed, but you can shop online at TheMarathonClothing.com.”

Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson explained that the fence is part of a larger plan. “The fence is part of a larger plan that got hatched a long time ago so we see that as a continuation of that vision,” Harris-Dawson said.

Last week, we reported that Hussle’s family turned down proposals of a public birthday bash in Los Angeles. The family wants to mourn the slain rapper in private. For his 34th birthday today, many fans went to social media to talk highly about Neighborhood Nip.

“Happy birthday to you bro …. I know you somewhere doing some cool s–t feeling good!!!! #themarathoncontinues@nipseyhussle,” Meek Mill wrote as his caption accompanied by a photo with him and Hussle in the studio.

“#HappyBirthday to a beautiful angel, Nipsey Hussle! Gone too soon! We miss you so much! Praying for your family and loved ones on a daily. Continue flying high and guiding us through this Marathon. This shit don’t stop! #HappyCDay Nip,” one fan wrote.
