Following A$AP Rocky’s written verdict yesterday (Aug. 14), the New York rapper issued a statement.

While posting to Instagram, Rocky explained that he is disappointed that the Swedish court found him guilty of assault. Ultimately, Rocky thanked his loyal fans for their continuous support regardless of the outcome.

“I AM OF COURSE DISAPPOINTED BY TODAY’S VERDICT,” he began. “I WANT TO SAY THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF MY FANS, FRIENDS, AND EVERYONE WHO SHOWED ME LOVE DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. IMMA KEEP MOVING FORWARD. THANK YOU TO MY TEAM, MY MANAGEMENT, ATTORNEYS, LABEL AND EVERYONE WHO ADVOCATED FOR JUSTICE.

Surprisingly, four judges decided that Rocky and his friends “were not in a situation where they were entitled to self-defense.” During the trial, prosecutors had a difficult time proving that Rocky hit the alleged victim, Mustafa Jafari, with a bottle. Rocky argued that although he did pick up the bottle that he didn’t use it on Jafari. In addition to that, there were no witnesses that could support the prosecutors’ theory that Rocky used the bottle against the victim.

Moving forward, Rocky will have to pay various fees and fines including restitution to the victim and cover the cost of Sweden’s court expenses. While performing at the Real Street Festival this past weekend, Rocky stated that he was hoping for a positive outcome. Before exiting the stage, the 30-year-old rapper humbly asked the audience to pray for him as he awaited his verdict.

“Everybody listen. I know y’all was praying for me. I’m gonna need y’all to keep praying for me. You know what I’m saying? Hopefully, with God’s will I’m not guilty,” Rocky said to the lively crowd.

Despite his unfortunate experience, Rocky states that he has no ill will towards Swedish people. Take a look at A$AP Rocky’s statement regarding his verdict below.
