“I said no to the Super Bowl: you need me, I don’t need you,” JAY-Z spits on “APESHIT.” Today (Aug. 13), however, it appears Jay might have a helping hand with the Super Bowl, after all.

According to the New York Times, the NFL has inked a partnership with Jay and Roc Nation. With this partnership, JAY-Z and his team will be asked to consult on the Super Bowl halftime show. Roc Nation will also have a helping hand with the league’s social initiatives. “The N.F.L. has a great big platform, and it has to be all-inclusive,” Jay said in an interview. “They were willing to do some things, to make some changes, that we can do some good.”

The NFL’s Commissioner, Roger Goodell, is excited to work with someone who keeps honesty at the forefront. Previously, the league faced a ton of backlash for how Colin Kaepernick was treated. Despite the controversy, the Brooklyn rapper offered support to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

“We don’t want people to come in and necessarily agree with us; we want people to come in and tell us what we can do better,” Goodell said. “I think that’s a core element of our relationship between the two organizations, and with Jay and I personally.”

On Wednesday (Aug. 14), Roc Nation and the NFL will officially announce the deal. The financial terms were not disclosed, although the ESPN reports that the deal is a “long-term partnership.”

“With its global reach, the National Football League has the platform and opportunity to inspire change across the country,” JAY-Z said to ESPN. “Roc Nation has shown that entertainment and enacting change are not mutually exclusive ideas — instead, we unify them. This partnership is an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of communities across America.”

Congrats to JAY-Z on his latest partnership!
